The European Parliament has made an important decision that opens new opportunities for the export of agricultural products from Ukraine to the countries of the European Union. In particular, this concerns the equivalence of the certification system for oilseed and beet seeds produced in Ukraine.

Thanks to this decision, Ukrainian sunflower, rapeseed, soybean, and beet seeds will be able to access EU markets, which is a significant step forward for Ukrainian farmers.
Joint Initiative for Ukraine and Moldova
The legislative initiative that received support was a joint effort between Moldova and Ukraine. It provides for the equivalence of field inspections conducted in these countries, particularly for fodder crop seeds in Moldova, as well as for beet seeds and oilseed seeds produced in Ukraine.
Prospects and Next Steps
It is important to note that since autumn 2020, EU equivalence has already been extended to grain, sorghum, and corn seeds from Ukraine. However, to implement the new legislative initiative, a number of formalities still need to be agreed upon, which are part of the so-called trilogue between representatives of the European Parliament, the Council of the EU, and the European Commission. After this, the document will be published and come into effect.
