On the night of April 6, 2025, an unknown Ethereum whale shocked the cryptocurrency community by moving 11,104 ETH (approximately $20 million) after a long dormancy of about eight years. This information was disclosed by analysts at Arkham.

The whale sent 10,856 ETH to a new wallet that was created on the same day as the transfer, while the remaining 247.93 ETH was sent to the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. As of now, the received wallet still holds 10,856 ETH, valued at over $16 million.

According to analysts at Lookonchain, this unknown whale also transferred 4.52 million USDC to the Hyperliquid platform to open a long position in Ethereum. They entered a trade with a 20x leverage at a price of $1459 per ETH. The current position volume is 47,253 ETH, equivalent to approximately $70 million, with a liquidation price set at $1391.7.
Ethereum trading trends
Currently, Ethereum is trading below the $1500 mark. According to charts on the Binance platform, the asset is showing some volatility. Earlier, there were reports of another participant in the Ethereum initial coin offering waking up after nine years of dormancy.
“This transfer shows that even old assets can become active in the market again,” noted the analysts.
