Ukraine Increased Bioethanol Exports by 180% in 2025

Україна збільшила експорт біоетанолу на 180%: одна компанія відвантажує майже третину постачань.

From January to March 2025, the volume of bioethanol exports from Ukraine rose by 180.6%, totaling 39,000 tons compared to the same period last year. The leader in supplies was the “First Podilsk Energy Company,” which accounted for over a third of all exports, specifically 30.7% of the total volume.

Impressive Growth and Changes in Export Structure

In February 2025, Ukrainian companies sold record-high volumes of bioethanol abroad, attributed to the lack of supplies in January, leading to a buildup of demand during the period from February to March. Meanwhile, in March, the export volume decreased by 9.1% to 14,400 tons, with the entire volume consisting of undenatured bioethanol.

Last month, just like in February, seven companies exported bioethanol from Ukraine. However, the structure of exporters changed: the “Uzyn Sugar Plant” returned to the market, while the “Western Ethanol Group” ceased supplies. In terms of average daily volumes, the leader was Vitagro Bio-Trade, with a growth of 20%, while the smallest reduction was recorded by the “First Podilsk Energy Company” (-42.2%).

Geography of Supplies and Main Importing Countries

The geography of bioethanol exports from Ukraine remained stable: the product was supplied to six countries. In March, the main importers were Lithuania (66.6%), Bulgaria (12.7%), and Poland (10%).
