According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises recorded a significant increase in the export of long metal products. Based on data from the State Customs Service, the export volume of this product reached 176.25 thousand tons, which is 19.6% more compared to the same period in 2024. Compared to the previous quarter, the figure rose by 18.7%, indicating a positive trend in the industry’s development.

Overall, more than 37% of the total export volume of long products consists of carbon steel rods and bars without further processing, twisted (UKTZED code – 7214), of which 65.14 thousand tons were shipped – 3.8 times more than last year. A significant portion of the product was directed to Poland – 32.54 thousand tons, with exports also going to Moldova (28.04 thousand tons) and Lithuania (2.56 thousand tons). Additionally, Ukrainian manufacturers shipped 61.76 thousand tons of hot-rolled rods and bars made of carbon steel, produced in bundles (UKTZED code – 7213), which is 8.4% less compared to last year.
Main Consumer Countries and Changes in Export Volumes
To Romania, 35.83 thousand tons were shipped, to Poland – 13.32 thousand tons, and to Bulgaria – 5.03 thousand tons. Of course, the main consumers are also European Union countries, particularly Poland received 13.48 thousand tons, Germany – 5.72 thousand tons, and the Czech Republic – 4.08 thousand tons.
As of March 2025, the export of long products from Ukraine amounted to 60.78 thousand tons, which is 21.1% more than in March 2024, but 7.3% less than in the previous month. In particular, 27.51 thousand tons of twisted rods and bars made of carbon steel were exported, which is 3.6 times more year-on-year and 42.7% compared to the previous month. Additionally, in this month, 18.46 thousand tons of hot-rolled rods and bars were shipped, which is 31.5% less than last year and 37.3% less than in February. The export of carbon steel wire amounted to 10.65 thousand tons, which is 9% less year-on-year, but increased by 3.6% compared to the previous month.
The foreign currency revenue from the export of long products in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 119.9 million US dollars, which is 4.9% more than last year, while in March it was 41.89 million US dollars, which is 7% more year-on-year, but 2.1% less than in February. In 2024, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased long product exports by 17.3%, totaling 613.73 thousand tons, while revenue from its export rose by 15.1% to reach 452.18 million US dollars.
