The German manufacturer of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) Quantum Systems has successfully raised €160 million in a Series C funding round. The leading investor in this round was the British venture capital firm Balderton Capital. The funds will be directed towards research and development of cutting-edge AI-based drone systems, expanding production capacities, and increasing the company’s presence in the European, American, and Asia-Pacific markets.

Quantum Systems specializes in the development of dual-use reconnaissance UAVs that are utilized in defense, agriculture, mining, and infrastructure sectors. The startup has already secured several government contracts in countries such as the USA, Colombia, Australia, Germany, Spain, and Ukraine.
Startup Recognition in Ukraine
Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that the total investment in Quantum Systems has reached €310 million, allowing the company to achieve unicorn status with a valuation of over $1 billion. He also noted that since 2023, the startup has been a resident of the “Diia.City” project, which facilitates the attraction of foreign companies to manufacturing in Ukraine.
“Quantum Systems is actively developing in Ukraine. Last year they launched UAV production here. Their drones have been assisting us in the war since May 2022,” the minister emphasized.
