Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump, lost 3.8% of their value at the close of trading on August 1, 2025. The decline was triggered by the release of the financial report for the second quarter of 2025, in which the company reported a net loss of $20 million on revenue of $0.9 million.

Reasons for Losses and Market Impact
A significant portion of the financial losses — around $15 million — is attributed to legal expenses during the merger process of Trump Media & Technology Group with a specialized SPAC for going public. This deal was initiated back in 2021, but its finalization has been delayed due to various legal and physical entities. The company notes that a favorable outcome in the legal disputes could significantly impact future financial conditions.
Despite a partial recovery in pre-market trading, TMTG shares have lost over 10% in a week, indicating a negative reaction from investors to the financial results.

As of the end of the second quarter, the company’s assets totaled $3.1 billion. The majority of these funds were raised for the purpose of purchasing bitcoins.
Possible Launch of Utility Token and Development of Truth Social Ecosystem
In its quarterly report, TMTG hinted again at the launch of its own utility token, which will be part of the digital ecosystem of Truth Social. The company also mentioned that it is exploring additional technological opportunities, including the implementation of artificial intelligence-based features, although details are not yet disclosed.
“Truth+ [streaming service] will be part of a larger rewards program that will include a utility token in the Truth digital wallet. It will initially be usable for subscription payments to Truth+, and later applicable to other products and services within the Truth ecosystem,” the report states.
The introduction of new services and digital assets is expected to allow the company to expand the functionality of its platform and attract a new audience.
