American Express Introduces Travel NFT Stamps in Ethereum-Based App

American Express запустила NFT-«штампи подорожей» у застосунку на базі Ethereum

American Express has launched a new feature in its mobile app for travelers — digital NFT “travel stamps” that allow users to store memorable records of their trips on the blockchain.

Features of NFT Stamps in the Amex App

The new “travel stamps” are created on the Ethereum blockchain as ERC-721 standard tokens (NFTs) on Coinbase’s Base network. It is noted that these tokens have no market value, are not intended for sale, and are not used as a loyalty program. The main goal is to provide travelers with a unique way to preserve their travel history with Amex.

“This is a worthless ERC-721, technically an NFT, but we didn’t position it that way. We wanted to talk about these things as stamps that are tokens and naturally fit into the travel experience.”

Every time a user takes a trip and pays with their Amex card, they can receive a digital stamp in the app. At the same time, the company sees these NFTs as a future tool for partnership integrations that could expand collaboration opportunities with other brands and services.

Additional Features of the App and Innovation Implementation

In addition to NFT stamps, the updated American Express app includes tools for trip planning, as well as enhanced features for users of the Centurion Lounge service.

It is worth noting that back in May 2023, the company announced the active implementation of artificial intelligence in its services. Innovations encompass transaction verification, credit limit determination, customer sentiment analysis, and forecasting users’ financial status.
