A hackathon dedicated to Farcaster Frames took place in the capital of Ukraine. The event, organized by Ethereum Ukraine, was a logical continuation of the community meetup held in March.

On April 5, ETHKyiv Impulse: Farcaster Frames Edition was held in Kyiv — the first hackathon in Ukraine entirely focused on experiments with Farcaster Frames. Participants had the opportunity to create interactive mini-apps directly within the Farcaster social media feed.
What are Farcaster Frames?
Farcaster Frames is a technology that transforms ordinary posts on social media into fully interactive mini-apps. It allows for various actions: from event bookings to interactive onboarding, as well as micro-donations and games, all happening directly within the feed.
“Frames enable influencers and developers to immediately test, monetize, and scale ideas. This is not just a technology, but an infrastructure for communication that is already shaping competition against traditional social networks,” notes Rostyslav Bortman, founder of Ethereum Ukraine.
Farcaster is already considered one of the most promising Web3 cases of the year, being compared to the App Store. Ukrainians have become some of the first to start creating fully-fledged products within this social network.
Impressive Ideas
Participants had just one day to go from idea to functional service that could enhance everyday interactions within Farcaster. As a result, four teams with diverse solutions became finalists:
- Booked! — a tool for scheduling meetings in the feed. Users can see their interlocutor’s calendar directly in the post and book a convenient slot without external links or applications.
- Tincaster — a frame for a quick start in Farcaster. New users receive a selection of accounts and swipe to choose whom to follow, similar to Tinder.
- 1moment — a frame for digital “moments.” Users create an NFT gift and send it in response to a post, expressing support or gratitude.
- FrameSense — an advertising solution for Farcaster apps. Developers can embed an advertising widget into their frame, while brands can configure campaign displays through a dashboard based on on-chain data.
“It was important for us to show that Web3 applications can be simple and useful. And thus, a new type of content is born — not just a post, but a whole interaction,” asserts Bortman.
Farcaster has established itself as a flagship among decentralized social networks, boasting over 70,000 active wallets, daily interactions with frames, and rapid growth in the number of applications. The uniqueness of Farcaster lies in its transparency, absence of algorithmic censorship, and the logic of “build inside”: anyone can create a mini-app that works directly within a post.
Participants of the hackathon also contributed to a fundraising initiative for AZOV.ONE, which supports the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Technologies cannot exist in a vacuum, especially during wartime. Developing Web3 means understanding how it helps the country you live in,” states Bortman.
Ethereum Ukraine will continue its series of hackathons and meetups, so stay tuned for community updates to be among those who test, create, and implement innovations long before they become mainstream.
