Grayscale Launches First Spot Cryptocurrency ETPs with Staking in the US

Grayscale запустила перші в США спотові криптовалютні ETP зі стейкінгом

Investment firm Grayscale has announced the launch of the first spot cryptocurrency ETPs in the US with staking capabilities. The new products, including the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE), Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETH), and Grayscale Solana Trust (GSOL), allow investors to earn income from staking Ethereum and Solana directly through traditional brokerage accounts.

Features of Grayscale’s New ETPs

According to the company, ETHE and ETH provide access to investments in Ethereum, while GSOL offers exposure to Solana assets. All three ETPs are distinguished by their ability to facilitate passive staking of digital assets through institutional custodians and a distributed network of validators. This approach enhances the security and resilience of the blockchain networks in which clients invest.

At the same time, these investment products are not subject to the Investment Company Act of 1940, meaning they do not have the status of traditional ETFs or mutual funds. This indicates that they are not bound by the standard requirements of American financial oversight, as stated in the company’s announcement.

Future Expansion and Innovative Approach

Grayscale emphasizes that the implementation of staking in spot ETPs is a significant step for the industry. The company also intends to expand staking functionality to other digital assets in the future, which could mark a new phase in the development of investment products in the US cryptocurrency market.

“Staking in our spot funds for Ethereum and Solana is exactly the type of innovation that Grayscale was created for,” commented the company’s CEO, Peter Mintzberg.

It was previously reported that the company 21Shares has already launched an ETP based on dYdX on European exchanges in Paris and Amsterdam, indicating a general trend towards increased innovation in the sector of cryptocurrency investment products.
