Liquidations in the Crypto Market Exceeded $1 Billion Due to Bitcoin Crash

From April 6 to 7, 2025, the price of Bitcoin sharply fell below the $77,000 mark, leading to significant losses in the cryptocurrency market. Within a day, the asset dropped by over 8%, and the value of other cryptocurrencies also decreased considerably.

In light of this, the total volume of liquidations in the crypto market reached over $1.02 billion within 24 hours. Positions of 327,198 traders were liquidated, including approximately $876 million in long positions and over $140 million in short positions. The highest liquidations were recorded in pairs with Bitcoin and Ethereum, amounting to $344 million and $296 million, respectively.

Major Exchanges and Liquidations

The largest liquidation amounts occurred on the cryptocurrency exchanges Bybit and Binance, where approximately $385 million and $210 million were liquidated, respectively. The largest single liquidation was $16.38 million on Bitfinex in the BTC/UST pair.

At the time of writing, the first cryptocurrency is trading near $76,100. It is worth noting that earlier, Bybit CEO Ben Zhou mentioned that the actual daily liquidation volume significantly exceeds the figures provided by analysts.
