Film Plot and Main Characters
According to the streaming platform, the new film is titled “One Attempt Remaining.” The story revolves around a former couple who unexpectedly discovers that the cryptocurrency they won during a joint trip many years ago is now valued at $35 million. However, the couple cannot access the funds because they have forgotten the wallet password.
Jennifer Garner will star in ONE ATTEMPT REMAINING, a new comedy feature film directed by Kay Cannon (“Blockers”). Years after a bitter divorce, the two ex-spouses find out that the cryptocurrency they won together on a cruise is now worth millions… but they have forgotten the password.
Jennifer Garner will play the lead role in the film. According to What’s on Netflix, the storyline is further complicated by a notification from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, after which the characters have only 48 hours to regain control of their crypto assets, or they will lose the opportunity to make a claim.
Real Stories and Risks of Storing Cryptocurrency
The film addresses one of the key issues in the industry—the irreversibility of losing access to digital assets in the case of a forgotten password or private key. Unlike traditional financial systems, recovering such data is impossible without adhering to all security storage requirements.
The plot is inspired by real cases, including the story of former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas, who lost access to 7002 BTC due to a forgotten password for an IronKey encrypted drive, which had a limited number of attempts to enter the code.
Although cryptocurrencies have appeared in films and documentary projects before, they have rarely been the central theme of a feature film. In Netflix’s new comedy, the focus is on the human dimension and the consequences of technical errors in everyday management of digital finances, which, according to the creators, aims to highlight the importance of careful attention to asset security.
It was previously reported that Coinstelegram released its fourth documentary film, Decentralized No Matter What, which also highlights the theme of decentralization in the world of cryptocurrencies.
