Causes of the Outage and Community Reaction

The likely cause of the halt is the deployment of Heimdall v2, which was rolled out in early July 2025. According to information on the forum, a representative from the Polygon team noted that the update addresses a critical vulnerability that may have caused the outage. He urged operators to update their nodes as soon as possible.

“The Polygon PoS network has not produced blocks for about two hours. The outage may be related to the Heimdall v2 hard fork deployed earlier this month.”

Some users believe that the issue arose from one of the RPC nodes, but overall, they claim that the network remains operational. However, the lack of an official response from the Polygon team has sparked a wave of criticism within the community, and no explanations regarding the situation have yet appeared on official resources.

Details of the Heimdall v2 Hard Fork and Current Network Status

On the Polygonscan service, it was recorded that the last processed block – 74592238 – was created approximately two hours ago. This confirms the halt in the production of new blocks. The deployment of the Heimdall v2 hard fork began in early July, and its main task is to eliminate technical debt and update the outdated code of the network.

Despite the developers considering this update necessary for enhancing security, the temporary halt of the network has raised concerns among users. As of now, new blocks are not being produced, and the community is awaiting an official response from the development team.
