The development team of the blockchain project Polygon has unveiled an extensive Gigagas roadmap, with the primary goal of increasing the network’s capacity to 100,000 transactions per second (TPS). According to the plan, the first key milestone—the Bhilai hard fork—will take place in July 2025.

First Stage: Bhilai Hard Fork and Performance Optimization
The Bhilai hard fork, which has already been successfully deployed on the Amoy test network, will serve as the starting point for implementing the new development strategy. This update will enable a performance of 1,000 TPS, reduce transaction finalization time from the current 60-90 seconds to just 5 seconds, and eliminate gas price spikes.
In the medium term, by October 2025, the team plans to integrate the Agglayer layer to ensure cross-chain liquidity, increase capacity to 5,000 TPS, and reduce finalization time to one second. To achieve this, the VEBloP model will be implemented, optimizing block production and minimizing network reorganization risks—crucial for attracting institutional players and launching high-level projects.
Strategic Goals and Development Prospects for Polygon
The main goal of the developers is to reach the milestone of 100,000 TPS and transform Polygon PoS into a leading platform for stablecoin payments and the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). The team also aims to attract institutional partners and become a key network for stablecoins and RWA, expanding integration with major industry counterparties.
As noted in the developers’ article, the market capitalization of stablecoins on the Polygon PoS network has already exceeded $2.5 billion (as of the time of writing—$2.64 billion), opening new opportunities for scaling and collaboration with institutional investors. Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2025, Polygon PoS ranked fifth among all blockchains by the market capitalization of tokenized real assets.
“The Polygon roadmap represents an arc that begins with solving today’s problems and ends with Polygon providing an open economy without borders for daily use by millions of people,” explained the project team.
