A New Chapter in the History of Silk Road After the Pardon
In early 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the pardon of Ross Ulbricht, who had spent 12 years in prison. During his incarceration, he received financial support from the community through the Free Ross portal. According to Conor Grogan, head of product at Coinbase, Ulbricht had about 430 BTC in his accounts even before receiving the new large transfer.
“One way or another, on May 31, 2025, a transfer of 300 BTC — about $31.3 million at the current rate — was sent to his wallet. This is likely the largest donation of all time.”
At this point, Ulbricht’s crypto asset portfolio is valued at $31.38 million.

Auction of Memorabilia and Additional Income
In addition to significant cryptocurrency support, Ross Ulbricht has put 13 personal items up for auction on the Scarce City platform. Among the lots are paintings created in prison, a tracksuit, and sneakers he wore when leaving the correctional facility, three ID cards, a sleeping bag, a backpack, a locker lock, and a djembe musical instrument.
The most interest at the auction has been generated by the prison ID card featuring a smiling image of Ulbricht, for which a bid of 5.5 BTC (approximately $574,000) has already been made. Overall, it is expected that all lots will bring the Silk Road founder nearly $1.3 million.
