Tether’s Bitcoin Asset Volumes Are Growing

According to public data, Tether currently holds 86,335 BTC, with a total value of these digital assets exceeding $9.75 billion. This marks the company’s second large Bitcoin acquisition in 2025, following a previous significant purchase on March 31. It is also worth noting that in June, 14,000 BTC were withdrawn from Tether’s wallet, and another 1,200 BTC were withdrawn in July.

Discussion Surrounding the Company’s Operational Transparency

“Financial analyst and CEO of SwanDesk Jacob King stated that he believes 80-90% of all Bitcoin purchases are fictitious, as Tether ‘prints money out of thin air,’ injects it into Bitcoin, and inflates the largest bubble in history, while the real value of Bitcoin, according to him, is significantly lower than even $1,000.”

Officially, Tether does not disclose which specific addresses are under its control; however, in August 2023, 21.co analyst Tom Wan pointed to a likely wallet belonging to the company. Sources also confirm that Tether is among the top 15 largest Bitcoin holders in the world.

In October 2024, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced at the Plan B forum that the company holds 82,454 BTC in its financial reserves. As of the end of September 2025, the first cryptocurrency is trading above $113,000 per unit, marking an all-time high.
