Leder’s Achievements at the Helm of Uniswap Labs
During Leder’s tenure, the company significantly expanded its functionality and influence in the DeFi space. Under her leadership, Uniswap Labs launched its own mobile wallet, activated protocol scaling across various blockchains, and placed a strong emphasis on user security and engagement with regulators. The former BlackRock executive joined Uniswap Labs in 2021, and during this time, the company became one of the key players in the decentralized finance infrastructure.
“After an incredible four years as President and COO of Uniswap, I am embarking on a new chapter. This is a new era for cryptocurrency. We have come a long way since I began working with digital assets at BlackRock in 2015, and building alongside Hayden Adams has been a true adventure,” Leder wrote on her X (formerly Twitter) account.
Context of the Resignation and Company Prospects
Mary-Catherine Leder’s resignation comes amid the stabilization of Uniswap Labs’ regulatory status following the resolution of issues with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. These agencies had previously raised concerns regarding the company’s compliance.
Additionally, the non-profit organization Bprotocol Foundation, which develops the Bancor Protocol, recently filed a lawsuit against Uniswap Labs and Uniswap Foundation over a potential copyright dispute.
It is worth noting that a successor for the position of President of Uniswap Labs has not yet been appointed.
