What is Kohaku and How Does It Work
Kohaku is an open-source toolkit designed to enhance privacy levels in the Ethereum blockchain. The framework is being developed as part of a global roadmap for implementing end-to-end privacy in the Ethereum network. Its architecture is modular, consisting of a lightweight client, a specialized wallet, and a range of protocols, including Railgun and Privacy Pools. The main goal is to make privacy an integral part of the Ethereum ecosystem by default.
During the presentation, the Privacy Pools team demonstrated the integration of the wallet with Railgun in practice: the user was able to hide their assets, confirming the effectiveness of the new framework. However, Kohaku is still in the development phase, and the date for its full release to the public has not yet been announced.
Key Points from Vitalik Buterin and Criticism of FTX
“Privacy is freedom. It allows us to live as we see fit, without constantly worrying about how our actions will be perceived by various centralized and decentralized coercive political and social structures,” Buterin stated.
During his speech, Vitalik Buterin also addressed the current challenges facing the crypto industry and criticized former FTX exchange leader Sam Bankman-Fried. He emphasized that the principles guiding FTX are the complete opposite of the values embedded in Ethereum, particularly openness, transparency, and decentralization.
