The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, announced the country’s intentions to expand economic cooperation with Ukraine, seeing significant opportunities for the development of its own economy. In his speech, Fiala emphasized that Prague is already providing economic assistance to Kyiv, including the transfer of generators worth CZK80 million (approximately ₴136 million) and the construction of a wind power plant in western Ukraine with a Czech investment of CZK61 million (about ₴114.85 million).

The Prime Minister noted that new projects are planned, particularly in the transport sector, and pointed to the possibility of strengthening cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
“Cooperation with Ukraine is a great opportunity for Czech business and the Czech economy,” Fiala stated.
To support his claims, Fiala cited statistics showing that Czech exports to Ukraine in 2023 increased by 75% compared to 2022, reaching CZK45 billion (approximately ₴76.5 billion).
He also assured that Czech companies are ready to actively participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine’s key infrastructure and that cooperation could develop in other areas.
Regarding Ukrainian refugees, Fiala noted that the Czech Republic has accepted the largest number of refugees from Ukraine per capita and has already employed 160,000 Ukrainians. However, a final decision on their status after the temporary protection program ends in March 2026 has not yet been made, and everything will depend on the “development of the current situation.”
