In-demand Professions in Ukraine: Employers Indicate Salary Expectations

Українські роботодавці назвали найбільш затребувані професії та поскаржились на нереалістичні зарплатні очікування шукачів.

A labor market study conducted by the Swiss organization Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation in collaboration with the State Employment Service and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine revealed which professions are most in demand among Ukrainian employers. The list of leaders predominantly includes skilled trades.

Ranking of In-demand Professions

Among the most popular professions are:

  • tractor operator in agricultural production
  • repair locksmith
  • electric gas welder
  • electrical installer
  • nurse (medical brother)
  • driver of motor vehicles
  • seamstress

This list will serve as a basis for the work of the State Employment Service, which plans to focus on training unemployed individuals and combat participants in these areas.

Salary Expectations and the Labor Market

According to the study’s results, about 35% of employers plan to increase salaries in 2025. However, most candidates have unrealistic financial demands, leading to a gap between supply and demand in the labor market.

Additionally, the OpenDataBot platform has compiled a ranking of the largest employers in Ukraine for 2025. Among the top ten are seven state-owned and state-controlled companies, as well as three private ones. The largest employer in Ukraine remains

“Ukrzaliznytsia”: 178,616 employees (-5% from last year).

In second place is

“ATB-Market”: 46,084 employees (+2,000 employees over the year)

, while the third spot is held by

“Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine”: 37,714 employees (+4,200).
