EIB Invests Over €18 Million in the Modernization of Schools, Kindergartens, and Hospitals in Three Regions of Ukraine

ЄІБ виділив понад €18 млн на енергомодернізацію десятків об’єктів соціальної інфраструктури в трьох областях.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has allocated €18.4 million under the “Ukrainian Municipal Infrastructure Development Program” (UMIP) for a large-scale energy modernization initiative in three regions of the country. The new tranche is aimed at upgrading 28 social infrastructure facilities, including schools, kindergartens, and hospitals.

Energy-Efficient Modernization in Volyn, Ternopil, and Zaporizhzhia Regions

In the Volyn region, €4.2 million will be directed towards the modernization of three key medical institutions. In Ternopil, €11.3 million will be used for energy modernization of 20 schools and kindergartens, including the implementation of energy consumption monitoring systems in all educational institutions in the city. In Zaporizhzhia, €2.9 million will be allocated for the reconstruction of five educational establishments, which will help reduce energy losses and enhance safety and comfort for students and teachers.

“The financing is backed by a guarantee from the EU under the €50 billion Ukraine Facility, confirming the EU’s systematic support for Ukraine’s recovery.”

UMIP: Investments in Community Recovery and Sustainable Development

The UMIP program is a large-scale investment project with a total budget of €400 million. Its goal is to provide funding for medium and large communities in Ukraine, focusing on the modernization of heating and water supply systems, improving energy efficiency in public buildings, and implementing modern waste management solutions. The involvement of EIB funding allows regions to adopt advanced technologies, promoting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
