As of May 2025, the annual inflation rate in Ukraine reached 15.9%, indicating an acceleration compared to the April figure of 15.1% and the March level of 14.6%. Throughout May, the increase in consumer prices also intensified — the price index rose by 1.3% compared to 0.7% in April and 1.5% in March. For the first five months of 2025, inflation in the country amounted to 5.6%.

Food Prices and Changes in Goods Costs
In May, food products and non-alcoholic beverages saw the most significant price increase — prices in this category rose by 2.8%. A particularly notable increase was recorded for fruits, which became 17.6% more expensive. Additionally, price increases affected meat, fish, bread, lard, vegetables, pasta, sugar, and non-alcoholic beverages — the cost increase in these categories ranged from 0.7% to 8.3%.

At the same time, there was a decrease in prices for certain products: eggs became cheaper by 8.7%, while butter, milk, and rice decreased in price by 0.5-0.8%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.4%, while clothing and footwear became cheaper by 1.9%.
Price Dynamics in the Transport Sector
In May, transport prices decreased by 0.1%. At the same time, the cost of travel in road passenger transport rose by 0.5%.
