The company Merafe Resources Limited has confirmed the cessation of operations at two of its ferrochrome plants in South Africa — Boshoek and Wonderkop. This decision was made following the completion of a business review process initiated due to the current market situation and challenges in the industry. This is stated in the company’s announcement. The review began in February of this year and was prompted by rising electricity prices, as well as increased competition from low-cost ferrochrome producers in China.
