In Russia, a Record Number of Foreign Companies Liquidated in the Third Quarter

In the third quarter of 2025, the Russian market recorded a historic high in the cessation of foreign companies’ operations. According to research, 23 international enterprises completely ceased their activities. Among them are leading global brands such as the British appliance manufacturer Dyson, the American corporation Rockwell Automation, which specializes in industrial automation, the German legal and auditing group Rödl & Partner, the laboratory equipment manufacturer Eppendorf SE, the Mexican company Orbia Advance Corporation, and the international telecommunications corporation Sony Mobile Communications.

Scale of International Business Exit

Several other companies have also announced the completion of their liquidation process: the British chemical manufacturer Croda International, the Japanese audio and video equipment manufacturer JVC Kenwood, the American pharmaceutical company Allergan, the Danish medical equipment manufacturer Ambu, the Belarusian enterprise Good Lakk, the German company Technoform, which operates in the building materials sector, and the Lithuanian optics manufacturer Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide.

Four foreign companies are currently in the final stages of liquidation: the Swedish Embracer Group, the Austrian Lisec, the French Louis Dreyfus Company, and the Finnish Orion Pharma.

Asset Seizures and Sales

In addition to the mass exit of foreign businesses, Russian authorities initiated the seizure of assets from the French company Air Liquide, valued at approximately 700 million USD. The business of the New Zealand company Airwork Group, which specializes in air transportation and aircraft maintenance, has also been arrested. Among the most notable asset sale transactions are the exits of the French company Alstom, the American brand Burger King, the Israeli group Fishman Group/Mirland Development, the Swedish Hilding Anders AB, and the Liechtenstein company Hilti.

“As of early October, 526 international companies (12.5%) have completely left the Russian market. Another 1,377 companies (32.6%) are in the process of exiting or reducing their operations, while 2,315 companies (54.9%) are still operating in the Russian Federation.”
