The chief advisor to the President of Turkey, Yalçın Topçu, stated that Ankara hopes for the swift ratification of the Free Trade Agreement by Ukraine. Turkey views this step as crucial for achieving the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to 10 billion US dollars.

Potential for Economic Cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey
According to Topçu, the implementation of the agreement will serve as a catalyst for enhancing economic cooperation between the countries, contribute to improving the living standards of citizens in both states, and gradually eliminate barriers and restrictions in trade. The document is expected to strengthen bilateral trade and ensure fair competition in the market.

Support for Post-War Reconstruction and Key Sectors of Cooperation
The advisor to the President of Turkey emphasized the importance of cooperation in the context of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. Among the priority areas, he highlighted the elimination of the humanitarian consequences of the war, the development of the defense industry, transportation, logistics, the energy sector, as well as the construction of housing and social infrastructure.
Negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Ukraine began back in 2007. The document was signed in 2022, and Turkey completed the ratification process in 2024. The agreement is currently awaiting consideration and approval by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
