“We have a shared vision for the future in the European Union, and the path of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU should be a joint one, so that everyone in our region benefits from strengthening our nations and Europe as a whole,” Zelensky emphasized.
Energy Partnership and Technical Assistance
During the negotiations, the parties focused on cooperation between the Ukrainian company “Ukrenergo” and the Moldovan “Moldelectrica.” The discussion included the construction of new power lines and interconnectors, which will enhance the energy security of both countries and facilitate the integration of energy markets.
Moldova provided Ukraine with a support package worth €700,000. This includes generators, transformers, medical equipment, vehicles, and other equipment necessary for the stable operation of energy and social infrastructure.
Development of Transport Infrastructure and Opening of a New Border Crossing
An important area of cooperation identified is the development of joint transport infrastructure, especially in border areas. Ukraine and Moldova agreed that the modernization of transport corridors and the simplification of border procedures will contribute to the growth of trade and improve transit efficiency.
The parties have already reached an agreement to open a new international border crossing at their shared border. This step will create additional opportunities for freight carriers and positively impact economic interaction between the countries.
