Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced plans to appeal to the International Monetary Fund for additional funding, as Ukraine’s budget needs for the next two years are only half covered. According to her, donors have currently allocated only 50% of the approximately 75 billion dollars needed for the functioning of the state budget in 2025-2026.

Negotiations with the IMF and Prospects for a New Program
The current IMF credit program, amounting to about 16 billion dollars, is set to conclude in 2027. However, given the uncertainty regarding the end of the war, official Kyiv is already preparing for negotiations on a new aid program. This issue is expected to be raised next month.
“If the baseline scenario assumes that the war will continue next year, it is very likely that we will have a new IMF program,” Svyrydenko said.

Additionally, Svyrydenko announced plans to hold negotiations in the coming days with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding possible financial support. These steps are aimed at stabilizing the economy under challenging wartime conditions and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of all state institutions.
