The Significance of Defence City for the Defense Industry

According to the initiative, the launch of the special Defence City regime for defense industry enterprises will allow the country to fully supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary weapons and military equipment. Additionally, a significant increase in the production volumes of arms and defense-related goods is expected. Experts estimate that the annual production volume could reach between 9 to 30 billion dollars.

Support and Prospects for the Bill

Danilo Hetmantsev emphasized the effective cooperation between the state and manufacturers during the refinement of the bills related to the implementation of Defence City. He noted that all parties agreed on the importance of this initiative for strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

“The bills take into account the agreed positions of the parties to the maximum extent. Everyone agrees that this is an extremely important initiative. I hope for full support of the bills in the second reading. We must provide all opportunities to strengthen Ukraine’s defense. The mechanism will then be tested in practice, results will be analyzed, and tools will be improved as needed,” Hetmantsev noted.

If the bill is adopted, Ukraine will not only ensure the supply of its own army but will also be able to rank among the top positions among global arms exporters, opening new opportunities for the development of the domestic defense sector.
