At the initial stage, specialists have already restored the lining of the main structures: the walls of the chambers, supporting arches, trays, inclined chutes, vaults, and regenerators’ nozzles. The work is now entering a new phase – a step-by-step restoration of mechanical, electrical, energy equipment, and automation systems is ongoing. Simultaneously, repairs of the metal frames of the wells are being carried out.

The Team and the Importance of the Repair for Production

Various departments of the plant, along with contracting organizations, are involved in the repair work. The main tasks are performed by specialists from the hot rolling mill, as well as experts from the Metal Repair Center, the Electromechanical Repair Center, the Automation Department, and the Central Electrical Laboratory.

It is noted that this upgrade is critically important for ensuring the stable operation of the hot rolling line. Timely major repairs will contribute to increased energy efficiency, reduced resource consumption, and maintaining high product quality standards even in challenging wartime conditions.

“A systematic approach to maintenance is one of the foundations of reliability and efficiency in production,” the company emphasizes.

According to GMK Center data, as part of the 2024 investment program, «Zaporizhstal» allocated 938 million UAH to support production capacities. Last year, repairs were made to blast furnaces No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, with investments exceeding 230 million UAH. In 2025, an increase in investments to 1.1 billion UAH is expected.
