Despite optimistic forecasts from Wall Street analysts regarding a revival in business activity should Donald Trump return to the White House, the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market, along with initial public offerings (IPOs), is showing a significant slowdown. According to the Financial Times, the number of deals announced since the beginning of 2025 has reached its lowest level in the past decade, indicating a rise in uncertainty in global financial markets.

Since the start of the year, 6,600 deals have been announced in the M&A segment, which is 30% lower compared to 2024 and 44% below the peak level of 2021. Nevertheless, the total value of deals has increased by 14%, reaching nearly $812 billion. This increase has been driven by several large transactions, notably Alphabet’s acquisition of Wiz for $32 billion.
