Restoration of Mykolaiv Port: Business Calls for Improved Exports

Бізнес закликає відновити роботу Миколаївського порту і забезпечити безпеку Херсонського для підвищення ефективності експорту.

The European Business Association (EBA) has appealed to the government with a proposal to restore the operation of Mykolaiv Port and ensure the evacuation of vessels that have been blocked since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia.

Additionally, the EBA emphasizes the need to restore security at Kherson Port to initiate its recovery and integration into Ukraine’s export processes. This involves strengthening the protection of port infrastructure, which will ensure its stable operation even in conditions of heightened security risks.

Risk Prevention and Route Optimization

The Association also suggests considering the possibility of safely demining certain areas of the Black Sea waters and agricultural lands in the region. Businesses urge the government to optimize the operation of maritime export routes, specifically allowing vessels to wait in the ports of the Odesa region, rather than only at the entrance to the Sulina Canal.

Positive Impact on the Global Market

It is estimated that the implementation of these measures will strengthen Ukraine’s positions in global markets by reducing logistics costs and insurance risks for shipowners. This, in turn, will help establish affordable food prices and ensure the effective export of Ukrainian products.
