From Humanitarian Aid to Strategic Partnership

The initiative Grain From Ukraine is transforming into Food from Ukraine, which involves not only the supply of food products but also the export of modern agricultural technologies, the development of partnerships with African countries, and the formation of new business models. Ukraine is changing its approach — from a raw material exporting country to a state that develops its own world-class food production and supports the stability of international markets.

“We are moving away from being a raw material exporting country to a state that creates world-class food products, ensuring the stability of international markets and helping those who need this support the most in the world. Food from Ukraine means exporting approaches, technologies, and building partnerships. We are transitioning from providing humanitarian aid to a model of mutually beneficial development,” she said.

New Opportunities for Ukrainian Agro-Exports

During the conference, the ministries of Ukraine and Ghana signed a memorandum to create a Processing and Distribution Center for Ukrainian products in West Africa. This is the first step towards forming Ukrainian agricultural hubs on the continent. Ukraine will provide technological expertise, modern equipment, and technical support, while Ghana will allocate land plots, provide necessary permits, access to infrastructure, and legal guarantees for the project’s implementation.

It is expected that the implementation of the memorandum will increase the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to African countries, attract foreign investment in the processing, logistics, and agricultural technology sectors, develop local infrastructure, and create new jobs in Ghana. Furthermore, it will strengthen political and economic cooperation between Ukraine and African countries, as well as enhance food security in the region, especially for states that depend on grain and flour imports.

The memorandum expands Ukraine’s partnership with Global South countries, opens new markets for Ukrainian producers, and strengthens the state’s position as a global guarantor of food security.
