Ukraine Harmonized 80% of Its Customs Legislation with EU Requirements

Ukraine has made significant progress in the process of customs integration with the European Union: currently, 80% of Ukrainian customs legislation complies with EU standards. This was revealed following the ninth meeting of the Subcommittee on Customs Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

Progress in Meeting European Requirements

During the meeting, the delegations discussed the degree of implementation of agreements reached in the previous phase of cooperation, as well as assessed Ukraine’s results in fulfilling obligations arising from the Association Agreement with the EU. Special attention was given to the implementation of the National Revenue Strategy until 2030 – a key document that outlines the further development of the country’s customs system. The discussion emphasized issues related to the digitalization of customs procedures and the introduction of anti-corruption measures.

Next Steps for Technological Integration

The Ukrainian side presented its vision for further integration into European customs standards, which includes the expansion of digital services and the implementation of joint solutions in risk analytics. According to representatives, Ukraine has already fulfilled 91% of its obligations in the customs sphere as defined by the Association Agreement, and continues to work towards achieving full technological compatibility with the European system.
