Ukrainian Electric Vehicle Market Grows: Companies Expand Charging Station Network

The Ukrainian automotive market is actively transitioning to environmentally friendly types of transport. According to analysts, there is a gradual decline in demand for gasoline and diesel cars, while electric vehicles and hybrids are rapidly gaining popularity.

Sales Dynamics in the Secondary and Primary Markets

In the segment of domestic resale of passenger cars, gasoline models remain the leaders with a share of 43%, which is 0.3 percentage points lower than in the previous period. Diesel cars maintain a stable position at 29.1% (+0.1 p.p.). Meanwhile, the share of cars with gas cylinder equipment has decreased to 20.9% (-0.5 p.p.). The largest growth has been recorded in the electric vehicle segment, whose share has increased to 4.7% (+0.7 p.p.), and hybrids — 2.1% (+0.2 p.p.).

Among used cars imported from abroad, gasoline vehicles account for 47.5% (+0.2 p.p.), while diesel vehicles make up 18.3% (-2.2 p.p.). The share of electric vehicles in this segment has reached 25.6% (+2.3 p.p.), and hybrids hold 5.5%. In the new car market, gasoline models occupy 31.6% (-2.2 p.p.), and diesel models account for 16.9% (-2.9 p.p.). Electric vehicles have shown significant growth here — up to 28% (+3.2 p.p.), while hybrids have reached 23.2% (+1.8 p.p.).

Infrastructure Development for Electric Cars

In response to the growing demand, the fuel company “Ukrnafta” has initiated a large-scale collaboration with the Toka Energy charging station network. The first joint charging station has already been opened at a gas station complex in Khmelnytskyi, and similar facilities are planned to be launched in various regions of Ukraine in the near future.
