Ukrainian Entrepreneurs Actively Open New Companies Despite the War

In the first half of 2025, entrepreneurial activity in Ukraine shows steady growth, despite the challenging conditions of wartime. Domestic entrepreneurs are not only resuming operations but are also focusing their efforts on creating new companies in key sectors of the economy.

Leaders in the Number of New Companies and Growth Dynamics

Among the most popular sectors where active business openings are observed are wholesale trade (2,066 new companies), real estate operations (1,439), information technology (1,429), construction (1,351), as well as transportation and logistics (1,281).

According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, the most significant increase in the number of new companies was recorded in the field of sports organizations — at 286.7%. There was also a noticeable increase in business activity in the pulp and paper industry (275%) and telecommunications (244.4%). In the second quarter, there was a rapid increase in registrations in the field of financial intermediation — the growth amounted to 1,766.7%. Significant growth was also demonstrated by auditing and accounting services (190.3%) and non-profit organizations (176.1%).

Challenges for Business and Regional Distribution

Despite the positive dynamics, high turbulence remains in several sectors. The highest number of business closures in the first half of 2025 was recorded among non-profit organizations (332), agricultural sector enterprises (287), and companies operating in wholesale trade (252).

The largest number of new companies was registered in Kyiv, as well as in the territories of Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions, indicating the significant potential of these regions for business development even in challenging conditions.
