Google’s Investment in Partnership with Warby Parker

At the Google I/O 2025 conference, an investment of $150 million was announced, directed towards the development and commercialization of the new smart glasses. It is expected that $75 million of this amount has already been invested, with another $75 million to be allocated upon achieving certain goals set by Warby Parker. The funds will be used for both research and development (R&D) as well as for expanding production and distribution through retail channels.

The new line of glasses promises to combine the functionality of Gemini AI with aesthetics and practicality. Google plans to offer both corrective and regular models, focusing on user experience.

Competitive Strategy in the AR Device Market

Equally important is that Google is expanding its partnerships for its XR devices, collaborating with well-known companies such as Samsung and Gentle Monster. Analysts believe this indicates the corporation’s desire to create a competitive ecosystem of consumer AR products.

“This project resembles Meta’s strategy with Ray-Ban and is aimed at the mass market.”

The partnership approach with Warby Parker mirrors Meta’s agreement with Ray-Ban for joint production of glasses. Experts believe that Google hopes to achieve similar success by utilizing Warby Parker’s popular frames.

In February 2025, it was revealed that Google plans to invest up to $75 billion in artificial intelligence development, which is 43% more than in 2023. While the exact allocation of these funds for AI projects has not yet been disclosed, consumers are eagerly anticipating new technologies from Google.
