The startup TwinMind, founded in 2024 by former Google X researchers, is creating an innovative artificial intelligence assistant that acts as a “second brain” for the user. This application analyzes surrounding speech in the background on a smartphone, instantly converting spoken conversations into structured notes, tasks, and prompts.

Unique Features and Advantages of TwinMind
Unlike conventional meeting recording services, TwinMind encompasses all spoken conversations throughout the day, not limited to individual calls or lectures. The application retains only text transcriptions, not audio files, enhancing privacy. All data processing occurs directly on the device, without sending information to the cloud. The program also supports real-time translation in over 100 languages and can operate autonomously for up to 17 hours continuously.
Developers note that TwinMind is designed to expand users’ cognitive capabilities, transforming fragments of conversations into a comprehensive knowledge graph. Among its features are the creation of work notes, reminders, and content for various purposes, including real-time prompts.
Functionality Expansion and New Technologies
The functionality of TwinMind is not limited to just a mobile application. The company offers a Chrome browser extension that integrates with email, Slack, Notion, and other popular platforms, gathering additional context for the user. This technology was even used by the team for selecting interns.
In August, the company unveiled the updated TwinMind Ear-3 speech recognition model, which supports over 140 languages and can distinguish between speakers in a dialogue. According to the developers, the word recognition error rate is 5.26%, while the voice separation error rate is 3.8%. The model is based on open-source solutions but has been significantly enhanced through training on specially curated data—from podcasts to movies.
The number of TwinMind users has already exceeded 30,000, with about half actively using the service each month. Professionals make up approximately 50-60% of the audience, while another 25% are students, and the rest use the app for personal purposes, such as recording memories or writing autobiographies.
According to the founders, the ultimate goal of the project is to create a digital memory that complements the individual and frees them from routine, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
Currently, the startup team consists of 11 people but has already secured $5.7 million in initial investment. The developers plan to expand the team, improve the user interface, and introduce a corporate API for business clients.
