The President’s Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, Vladislav Vlasuk, announced that the United States and European Union countries are intensifying preparations for new sanctions against Russia in 2025. New Sanction Measures from the US and EU

Vlasuk emphasized that the US is currently gathering information on the mechanisms for implementing financial and banking sanctions. “Preparations for financial and banking sanctions are underway. As soon as there is an indication from the White House, sanctions updates from our American partners can be adopted very quickly. They will certainly be supported by our British partners,” he noted.

Current State of the European Union’s Sanctions Policy

A member of the Ukrainian government also added that the European Union currently does not have ready solutions regarding new sanctions against Russia, but they are working on the 17th package of restrictions. “Realistically, discussions about its adoption can only take place at the end of May. Definitely not before that,” Vlasuk emphasized.

“Sanctions are an important tool for deterring Russia,” he said, stressing that Ukraine has long been cooperating with international partners to strengthen restrictions and prevent their removal.

Experts believe that strengthening the sanctions policy of the US and EU will be an important step in maintaining pressure on the Russian regime in 2025, which could impact the situation in the region and global economic processes.
