“Whether the sanctions will be tightened or eased depends on the further actions of the Russian leadership. And President Donald Trump, in my opinion, will not hesitate to tighten the sanctions if it gives him an advantage in negotiations,” emphasized the US Treasury Secretary.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio pointed out that the Russian conditions for a ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea involve the lifting of European sanctions. “So right now we are gathering information. We will analyze the proposals to better understand what exactly Russia wants in exchange for a truce,” clarified Rubio.
After this, the Russian position will be presented to Trump, who will have to make a decision regarding the next steps for the United States. Meanwhile, the EU has stated that it does not plan to ease anti-Russian sanctions at the request of the Kremlin or allow the connection of Russian banks to SWIFT.
