Increase in Arms Exports from Slovakia

Last year, arms exports from Slovakia reached 1.15 billion euros, which accounts for about 1% of the national economy. This is twice as much as in 2023 and ten times more than before Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. According to the official position of the Slovak Ministry of Defense, state assistance to Ukraine is limited to non-lethal support and critical electricity supplies.

“Despite the political friendship between Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and the Russian dictator Putin, and promises not to provide ‘a single bullet’ to Ukraine, private Slovak defense companies are actively supplying weapons to the front.”

Features of Cooperation and New Aid Package

The Slovak government does not create obstacles for private enterprises that produce modern weapons. Among the products manufactured in Slovakia are 155 mm ammunition, Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers, detection systems, electronic warfare means, and cutting-edge communication technologies. Most of this production is sold to Western partners, who independently determine the further supply routes.

Additionally, Bratislava is preparing to deliver the fourteenth package of non-lethal assistance to Kyiv. This package will include equipment for humanitarian demining, engineering supplies, and other necessary means to support the Ukrainian side.
