Growth of the Defense Sector and European Integration
According to Umerov, in recent years Ukraine has significantly increased its production volumes in the defense sector: from $1 billion in 2022 to $35 billion in 2025. The minister emphasized that this result has been achieved thanks to joint efforts and the significant internal potential of the state.
“Supporting the Ukrainian defense industry is a contribution to the collective security of the entire continent. SAFE creates mechanisms for procurement in critically important areas,” Umerov emphasized.
Priority Areas and Prospects for Joint Production
The head of the Ministry of Defense urged EU partner countries to prioritize procurement from the Ukrainian defense industry, especially in the segment of unmanned aerial vehicles. He stressed that Ukraine is ready for large-scale joint work on the production and supply of weapons not only for the needs of the front but also for future European armies.
Among the promising areas of cooperation, the minister noted the production of 155-millimeter ammunition, artillery systems, air defense systems, and electronic warfare means. Umerov also pointed out that large joint projects involving Ukraine are capable of ensuring long-term stability and strength on the European continent.
