The company “Chumak,” which is part of the international group Wilmar International, has temporarily suspended the implementation of its tomato processing factory project in the Odesa region. This decision was made due to the challenging macroeconomic situation and security threats in the region. The company’s main production facility, located in the Kherson region, has been under temporary occupation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia.

Changes in Chumak’s Production Strategy
The loss of facilities in Kherson has forced the company to reassess its business model. Initially, Chumak supplied the Ukrainian market with tomato paste, importing it from Italy in triangular tubes. Starting in 2025, the company will utilize the production capacities of a Ukrainian partner to manufacture this product, allowing it to maintain brand presence in the market despite the challenges.
Support for Small Farmers in Cherkasy
In the Cherkasy region, the company “Agro Plus 2006,” which specializes in pig farming, has opened a modern elevator complex and a feed mill with the support of USAID. These facilities will serve not only as a production base for the enterprise itself but also as a service platform for local farmers.
“As part of the project, it is planned to engage over 80 micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural producers who will receive service support and assistance in selling their products at market prices.”
The project aims to improve conditions for farming enterprises, provide them with quality services, and help them sell their products under favorable conditions. This initiative will give small agricultural producers in Cherkasy additional opportunities for development and strengthen their positions in the market.
