Soybean Exports from Ukraine in 2025–2026 Marketing Year May Decrease by 37% Due to Increased Processing

Experts predict that in the 2025–2026 marketing year, soybean exports from Ukraine may decrease by 37%. As of early 2026, farmers have already harvested over 4.852 million tons of soybeans from 99% of the sown area. Despite the trend of increasing acreage for this crop since 2022, interest in soybean cultivation has significantly declined in the new season due to falling prices in the previous period.

Impact of Tariffs and Market Trends

The introduction of a 10% tariff on soybean exports has significantly changed the structure of its usage. Most of the harvested crop has been directed to processing enterprises, while the volumes shipped abroad have remained minimal. Eventually, the situation stabilized due to government regulation of exports for farmers. Although monthly export figures remain lower than last year’s, in December, shipment volumes reached their highest since the beginning of the season—approximately 350 thousand tons, which is nearly equivalent to last year’s level.

Focus on Processing and Risks for Logistics

The main trend for the 2025–2026 marketing year is the reorientation of farmers from soybean exports to the production of oil and meal. However, the further situation in the market will largely depend on the efficiency of logistics and the stability of port operations, which have recently been subjected to regular shelling by Russia.

The key trend for the 2025-2026 marketing year remains the shift in focus—from soybean exports to oil and meal.
