Priorities for State Support in the Agricultural Sector

The Ministry of Economy emphasized that state assistance is focused on areas that contribute to strengthening the agricultural sector and the economic recovery of the country. The main focus is on supporting frontline territories, developing irrigation, and assisting producers operating under the most challenging conditions. Insurance plays a significant role among the support tools, as well as financial assistance for livestock, aquaculture, and humanitarian demining of agricultural lands.

“In 2026, we are concentrating state support on those areas that ensure the resilience of the agricultural sector and the recovery of the economy. The priorities are frontline territories, irrigation development, and support for producers working under the most difficult conditions. We are enhancing insurance tools and directing funds towards livestock, aquaculture, and humanitarian demining of lands,” the ministry stated.

Resilience of the Agricultural Sector and Development Prospects

Serhiy Tarasov, founder of the I&U Group agricultural holding, notes that despite the challenging circumstances, the Ukrainian agricultural sector demonstrates high resilience and readiness for integration into the European Union market. He emphasized that doing business in Ukraine has long met European standards, which contributes to increasing the industry’s competitiveness on an international level.

Tarasov also pointed out the significant opportunities for Ukraine in the areas of processing industry, digitalization of agricultural production, and bioenergy development. In his opinion, the transition to a circular economy opens up the prospect for the country to become a leader in this field among European states.
