Ukraine Strengthens Its Position as a Leading Corn Exporter to the EU

Україна стає ключовим постачальником кукурудзи до ЄС.

Ukraine continues to strengthen its position in the agricultural market of the European Union, becoming a key supplier of corn. According to analytics, the corn market is gradually transitioning to the new harvest, as last year’s grain has practically lost its liquidity. European countries maintain a stable interest in Ukrainian products amid yield issues within the EU.

Growing Demand from Europe

The new corn harvest from Ukraine is being valued in a wide price range – from $197 to $203 per ton, although some traders are already offering higher prices – $205–$206. The highest demand is shown by importers from Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. Due to unfavorable weather conditions and declining yields in the EU, corn import volumes have increased from the projected 18–19 million tons to 22–23 million tons. Ukraine is becoming a primary partner to meet these needs.

The EU is facing serious yield problems, forcing the bloc to increase imports from the projected 18-19 million tons to 22-23 million tons, with Ukraine appearing as a key supplier.

Ukrainian exporters have already sold about 4 million tons of the new harvest with shipments in November-December, indicating a high level of activity in external markets.

Expansion of Sunflower Oil Exports

In addition to corn, Ukraine is actively developing sunflower oil exports. In particular, the company “Radem” from the Rivne region exports over 80% of its products to EU countries. Two years ago, the plant launched a new production line, and by the end of 2025, they plan to open another bottling workshop, which will allow them to double oil production volumes to 4,000 tons per month. The company actively utilizes state preferential loans for development, and about 100 people are employed at the facility.
