The Mykolaiv region plans to begin the construction of modern social housing using the developments of the leading Danish company KAB. The Danish operator, which has been working in the field of social housing for over a century, is collaborating with the Ukrainian organization “Ukrainian Houses for All” (UHFA) to implement an innovative approach to addressing the region’s housing issues.

Danish Experience for Mykolaiv: New Opportunities
During a meeting with the leadership of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, KAB representatives discussed the prospects of utilizing Danish experience for the region’s reconstruction. Special attention was given to attracting investments and creating quality and affordable living conditions for the region’s residents. Today, about one-fifth of all social housing in Denmark is built under the management of KAB, so the organization aims to expand its practices in Ukraine.
Pilot Projects and Funding Principles
UHFA has already prepared a number of pilot projects for Mykolaiv. In particular, it is planned to:
- Construct 50 apartments for young people who want to stay in Ukraine or return from abroad;
- Build 50 small houses for families seeking stable housing in certain cities of the region;
- Create another 50 apartments in partnership with international organizations for the further development of the program.
The key principle of UHFA is that the funds raised for construction remain in Ukraine and are reinvested in new housing programs. This creates a closed financing system that ensures sustainable development.
Thanks to this approach, a continuous financing system is expected to be formed, which will allow for the effective development of social housing in the Mykolaiv region in the future.
