The “Aurora” Network Changes Its Expansion Strategy and Plans to Go Public

Найбільший в Україні ритейлер формату one dollar store змінює стратегію розширення мережі.

In 2025, the largest one dollar store retailer in Ukraine, “Aurora,” is implementing a new expansion strategy. Instead of actively opening a large number of small retail outlets, the company has focused on launching larger stores, but in fewer numbers. As a result, the pace of new store openings has slowed: previously, a new store opened every 14 hours, but now this figure stands at one store every 30 hours.

Network Development Dynamics and Financial Indicators

As of September 2025, “Aurora” has 1,753 stores in Ukraine, although the company planned to reach 2,000 retail outlets by the end of 2024. Despite this, the growth of the network in terms of square meters is proceeding according to the planned pace, indicating the success of the new development model.

“We expect net revenue to be ₴49 billion excluding VAT. We will grow by 29% compared to last year or by 22% in dollar equivalent,” noted Panasenko.

International Expansion and Company Prospects

As part of its entry into international markets, “Aurora” is also adjusting its plans. Instead of the planned 150 stores in Romania by the end of 2024, only 55 have been opened so far. The main priorities in this country have become increasing revenue, enhancing profitability, and carefully selecting locations for new retail outlets. Among the next directions for international expansion, the company is considering Bulgaria.

The estimated value of “Aurora,” according to the co-founder, has reached $4.5 billion. The company is actively preparing for its stock market debut, which is expected to be an important milestone in the further development of the retailer.
