Vegetable and Berry Crop Yields at Risk of Decrease

Experts predict that due to unstable weather conditions, this year’s vegetable and fruit-berry crop yield will decrease by 11% compared to last year. It is expected that the volume of grown vegetables will be 7.3 million tons, fruit-berry crops will be 1.8 million tons, and potatoes will be around 19.3 million tons.

Decline in Sugar Sales and Exports

At the same time, the agricultural holding “Astarta,” which is the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, reduced its revenue from the sale of this product by 38% in the first half of 2025, to €79 million. The reasons for the decline were an 11% drop in sugar prices and a 29% decrease in sales volumes. The share of exports in the company’s revenues was 47% compared to 58% in the first half of 2024, with the main markets remaining Libya, Macedonia, and Israel. “Astarta” accounts for 24% of the total sugar exports from Ukraine.

According to experts’ forecasts, due to sharp weather fluctuations this year, the yield of vegetables and fruit-berry products may decrease by 11% compared to last year’s figures.
