The United Kingdom and Poland Expand Drone and Ammunition Production to Support Ukraine

Союзники масштабують виробництво дронів та боєприпасів для посилення власних армій та підтримки Києва.

In Swindon, United Kingdom, the largest drone manufacturing plant in the country will be established in 2026. The Portuguese company Tekever, which already operates three facilities in the UK producing AR3 drones, will be responsible for its construction. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, the UK has purchased Tekever drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces worth approximately £270 million. These drones are effectively used to target Russian air defense systems.

Strengthening Drone Cooperation in Swindon

Tekever plans to join leading companies in the drone manufacturing sector that are already operating in Swindon. Among them are the German company Stark and the Norwegian company Munin Dynamics. The company DSEI Flyby is also preparing to join this group, expanding the region’s capabilities in implementing cutting-edge defense technologies.

Poland Expands Ammunition Production for the Armed Forces

Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) has identified a strategic partner for the production of 155mm shells — the British conglomerate BAE Systems. The Polish company plans to acquire a license for ammunition production in the coming weeks. The agreement entails a 40-year collaboration and grants Poland the right to sell shells to third countries, including Ukraine.

It is expected that within two years, the plant will increase its production capacity to 130,000 shells annually, whereas PGZ currently produces only several tens of thousands of ammunition per year.

“Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Britain has purchased Tekever drones worth around £270 million for the Armed Forces. These UAVs have been widely used to destroy Russian air defense systems.”
