Impact of Cypriot Co-Owners on Ukrainian Companies

According to research, citizens and companies from Cyprus are co-owners in 7,174 Ukrainian enterprises. Of these, 1,595 companies demonstrated positive financial results over three quarters in 2025, with total revenue exceeding ₴1.53 trillion. This is significantly more than companies with co-owners from the United Kingdom or the Baltic states.

The largest number of companies with Cypriot co-owners operate in Kyiv (3,761 companies), Dnipropetrovsk (588), and Odesa (415) regions. About 3,126 such companies are part of 509 corporate groups, with leaders including “Privat” and Dragon Capital. Among the top ten companies by revenue are those with Cypriot co-owners, which include both large industrial enterprises and retail chains.

Key Companies and Factors Behind Cyprus’s Popularity

Among the leaders in revenue for the three quarters of 2025 are MHP (₴42.21 billion), “Nova Poshta” (around ₴38 billion), DTEK’s energy assets in Zakhidenergo, and the Southern Mining and Processing Plant (₴53.63 billion). The ranking also includes major retail chains: EVA, VARUS, and “Aurora”.

Cyprus remains one of the most popular jurisdictions among investors due to its low tax rates, simplified business registration procedures, and developed legal infrastructure for international investments.

“Analysts note that such ownership models not only facilitate access to the Ukrainian market but also enhance the export and investment potential of companies, especially in high-capitalization sectors.”
