OpenClaw to Become an Open Source Project Supported by OpenAI

According to Altman, OpenClaw will be transferred to a specially created fund and will operate with open source code. OpenAI will continue to support the development of this initiative, emphasizing the importance of openness for the future of multi-agent systems. Altman noted that open source will be a key component in building new intelligent agents capable of effectively collaborating with one another and providing users with useful features.

“The future will be multi-agent,” and it is important for the company to maintain open source as part of this future.

Peter Steinberger’s Plans and Vision

Peter Steinberger also confirmed his joining OpenAI, stating that the goal of this new phase is to make agents accessible to everyone. He emphasized that OpenClaw will remain an open and independent project within the fund. According to Steinberger, the past month has been extremely busy for him due to significant interest in his development.

Among Steinberger’s main tasks is the creation of an agent that is user-friendly for the older generation. To achieve this, broader changes need to be implemented, with more focus on the safe use of technologies and ensuring access to modern models and research in the field of AI. He stressed that he does not plan to build a large company around OpenClaw, and collaboration with OpenAI will allow for rapid scaling of development and make it as accessible as possible.

Steinberger stated that the fund will provide the right structure for the project and preserve its freedom of development, while OpenAI’s support will accelerate the realization of ideas.

It is worth noting that Clawdbot previously rebranded to OpenClaw, and its community launched the Moltbook network, where artificial assistants have already begun to interact with each other.
